Richard's Story

Life I'm living in the Mountains at the Top of Virginia in a place called Star Tannery. Its to small to be a town...just a spot on the map. I have 2 wonderful children that are grown and married. I have 2 wonderful Grandchildren...Jack and Erin...5 and 2. I have 3 great dogs..., A Choc Lab named Abbie...and a mixed Beagle/Redbone Hound named Spike and my latest addition a Lab mix that my daughter rescued...I call "Lucky".I also have 13 cats...quite by accident. I have become a cat lover/rescuer by default. Happiness is the mountain, my children, grand children and my dogs and cats. I traveled to Germany for the month of Dec 2005 and Snorkeld the Great Barrier Reef off of Cairns in Australia in March 2006. Life has had its ups and downs but I had a great 24 years in the Marine Corps retiring in 1992. Worked for the Boy Scouts for a cpl of yrs then got into banking for the next 8. Quit to care for my mom after my Dad passed away and began working for myself as a Jack of all trades Handyman woodcutter in 2003 when my Mom passed away. I now work as a picture framer and build custom shadow boxes for Artistically Framed in Stephens City, Va. Love to hunt and shooting. Have a private range and love to have folks stop by for target practice. My flag pole was a piece of fence from the Old Norview High School with bricks and Tile that Laura Kuuse and I collected from the rubble of our wonderful old School. Its dedicated to all Norview Alumni that Served in the Armed Forces...Past,Present ...and future. I got a good education in ...Expand for more
spite of myself thanks to Mr.Campbell, Mr. Hoover, Mr Smith and Mr Bratten. Mr Haddock taught me Woodshop for 3 years at Azalea and gave me a lifelong passion for woodworking. Mr Hoover and Mr Smith taught me Speech, Drama, and English...Mr Bratten Taught US History and Mr Campbell Government. Those gentlemen will never know how much they influenced my life in a most positive way. God Bless all the Good People in my life! The reason I'm also listed in Lake Taylor is that my brother Rodger was killed in his senior year there. He would have been in the Class of "69". I was in the Marines at the time. I would love to hear from any of his friends...especially Don Taylor who was with him in the accident. Unfortunately I have never seen him since the funeral. If anyone knows his wearabouts I would love to hear from him. We were friends and although my mother had some hard feelings I know it was a terrible and regretably accident. I just want to hear the good things that they did together the last days of his short life. I have absolutely no hard feelings about Don...but rather good feelings about him....sad feelings that he had to experience such a tragedy at such an early age and carefree time in life. I know that he was friends with Dona' Pablo and Samantha Martin...beyond that my memory fails. College El Paso Community College, University of Texas at El Paso, Lord Fairfax Community College, The United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class of July 1986(attended as a U.S.Marine) and The American Institute of Banking.
